The weekly card is not scripture

Why this site tracks ROCm and vLLM as dated snapshots, and how to refresh the YAML without redesigning pages.

Updated Sep 20, 2026

The frontier on home AMD ROCm moves weekly. A tutorial that freezes “install ROCm 6.1 and pip install vllm” is how people lose a Saturday.

This notebook keeps two layers:

  1. src/data/what-works.yaml — the home “what works this week” card. Qwen recommendation, ROCm line, inference default. Edit the file. Rebuild. No layout work.
  2. ROCm version notes — short dated cards (10.0.0, 7.14.1, vLLM 0.29). They stay so you can see what we believed then. They are labeled archive vs snapshot.

Companion YAML:

  • src/data/qwen-recommendations.yaml — reliability vs capability vs optional abliterated
  • src/data/abliterated.yaml — the table on /abliterated

When you update: change as_of, rewrite the headline in one sentence, and add a version note if a line changed (new Core SDK, new vLLM extras index). Do not silently mutate history.

Verify on the box: rocminfo / rocm-smi, a golden prompt, and “is this the ROCm wheel.” Tokens-per-second brag posts are not a substitute.
